Hilex Poly: Accomplishing Goals In 2014
At the beginning of each year people tend to set resolutions, myself included. Professionally, I’ve been trying to increase my work with organizations and groups that are also interested and invested in reducing waste and increasing recycling. Today, I’m happy to report that I have stuck to my resolution, with the support of the Hilex Poly family, and have been successful at furthering this goal thus far.
This year I’ve had the opportunity to travel across the country and speak with groups who want to better understand the facts about plastic bags and reduce plastic bag waste. As you may have read in my earlier blog post
, I was honored to present information about plastic bag legislation and recycling to a class in the Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
More recently, I met with the Retail Packaging Association
and the Society of Plastic Engineers
to discuss myths about plastic bags. It was great to have open discussions and address questions about some common misconceptions about plastic bags. Both audiences were eager to learn the facts and studies about plastic bags, as well as the advancements made by recycling plastic bags.
We’ve come a long way, but we’re not done yet. Hilex Poly is proactively searching for new ways to expand our work and share the facts about plastic bags. We want to do everything we can to encourage waste reduction through recycling. Make sure to check our blog frequently to learn about the new partnerships and initiatives we’re pursuing!
