Hilex Poly Joins Business Leaders in Looking at Sustainable Business Practices

Last month, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Corporate Citizenship Center invited 25 business leaders in the private sector to showcase their success stories in solving difficult water and energy issues and included them in their new publication, Achieving Energy and Water Security: Scalable Solutions from the Private Sector.

We at Hilex Poly are honored to be included.

This opportunity gave us the chance to highlight the many ways our company helps to reduce energy usage and water waste through our closed loop Bag-2-Bag Recycling Program. Our program has allowed us to build partnerships with local retailers and distribute more than 34,000 plastic bag collection bins across the U.S., increasing overall access to plastic bag recycling.

We’ve also developed a more energy-efficient manufacturing process. Compared to standard retail bags, our recycled bags require 20 percent less energy and generate 11 percent lower carbon emissions. In fact, the total energy we’ve saved could power 1.89 million households for an entire year!

At Hilex Poly, we value green, environmentally friendly business practices and we pride ourselves for being active on sustainability. More than ever, it’s important to re-evaluate the way we think about sustainable business, and I applaud the Corporate Citizenship Center for bringing the issue the attention it deserves.
