History of Novolex

The Novolex acquisition history timeline

The Novolex growth story begins with Hilex® Poly, our business that manufactures plastic retail bags and operates plastic bag and film recycling operations. As sales grew organically, Novolex began acquiring companies that built on our strengths in packaging and product innovation — adding complementary products to our portfolio and contributing to our sustainability story. Here’s a brief history of our acquisitions over the years:

The North American operations of Clondalkin’s packaging business.

The Duro® Bag and Bagcraft® Packaging businesses, both well-respected brands in paper bags and paper food packaging.

Wisconsin Film & Bag, a specialist business in polyethylene films and bags with a post-industrial and post-consumer recycling operation.

Burrows Packaging™, a manufacturer of flexible and rigid paper-based food packaging products with a strong presence in the quick service restaurant segment; and Heritage Bag™, a leading producer of can liners for institutional applications.

Shields® Packaging, a manufacturer of custom flexible packaging for food processing and industrial customers, as well as The Waddington Group. Waddington includes operations in North America and Europe as well as the Eco-Products® brand, an innovative supplier of recyclable and compostable foodservice products.

Zenith Specialty Bag, a manufacturer of paper food packaging products.

B&H Bag Company, a manufacturer of paper bags and packaging.

Flexo Converters USA, Inc., a manufacturer of stock, custom and recycled paper bags and sacks.

Vegware, a leader in compostable foodservice packaging based in Europe
