Novolex Raises $25,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to Fight Childhood Cancer

NASHVILLE, TN, February 21, 2019 – Novolex™, one of North America’s leaders in packaging choice and sustainability, has teamed up with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation(ALSF) to take a stand against childhood cancer. In the weeks leading up to the company’s National Sales Meeting in Nashville, TN, Novolex™ more than 350-member sales team raised $25,000 to help fund cutting-edge pediatric cancer research. Team members, whose work spans the retail, grocery, food service, hospitality, institutional and industrial markets, contributed to the fundraiser directly and engaged their local communities around Novolex™ 62 locations in the U.S. and overseas.

“We believe in supporting families and being there to help those in need. Some of our own employees’ children have battled cancer and we know when one child is diagnosed with cancer, it touches our entire community,” stated Stan Bikulege, CEO and Chairman of Novolex. “With over 10,000 families as a part of our team, partnering with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was a perfect opportunity.”

According to the American Cancer Society, one in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer by the time they turn 20, yet pediatric cancer research is vastly and consistently underfunded. Childhood cancer research receives just four percent of the annual budget from the National Cancer Institute..

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was established in 2005 to continue the mission of four-year-old Alex, who while fighting her own battle against cancer, set up a lemonade stand to help raise money for “her doctors to find a cure” for all childhood cancers. In addition to funding innovative research, ALSF provides emotional, financial and logistical support to childhood cancer families across the nation.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004) who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma as an infant. In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $150 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding nearly 1,000 pediatric cancer research projects nationally. In addition, ALSF provides support to families affected by childhood cancer through programs such as Travel For Care and SuperSibs.
