Novolex Certified FacilitiesThe Global Food Safety Initiative
The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is a private organization, established in 2000 and managed by an international trade association, the Consumer Goods Forum. GFSI is focused on the continuous improvement of food safety management systems along all steps of the supply chain to ensure confidence in the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide. GFSI provides a platform for collaboration between some of the world’s leading food safety experts from retailers, manufacturers and food service companies, food packaging providers, service providers associated with the food supply chain, international organizations, academia and government.
Safe Quality Food
Safe Quality Food (SQF) is a global food safety program, recognized by GFSI. To achieve SQF certification, Novolex facilities complete extensive training; develop, document, and implement food safety and quality plans; and undergo a third-party audit. SQF certification provides assurance that the products sold by certified manufactures such as Novolex have passed rigorous international standards for food safety and quality. There are three levels of certification for the SQF standard. The first is SQF Food Safety Fundamentals for low risk products, incorporating fundamental food safety controls. The next standard to which most Novolex plants are certified is the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacture of Food Packaging. This SQF Food Safety Code is a certified HACCP food safety plan benchmarked by GFSI. The third, SQF Quality Code, involves a comprehensive implementation of safety and quality management systems that incorporates the Food Safety Code for Manufacture of Food Packaging.
