At Novolex, safety is an integral part of our operations and central to everything we do. Guided by the Novolex Safety Handbook, we are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, suppliers, and contractors.

Safety First

Our Health and Safety Management System supports efficient management of inspections, incident investigations, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. To ensure continuous improvement, the S&EHS Committee of the Novolex Board of Directors reviews safety performance and program progress on a quarterly basis.

Champion Safety

Champion Safety is our first core value at Novolex, and it shapes how we show up for one another every single day. We champion the safety, security, and well-being of our families. We empower one another through ongoing education, coaching, and shared accountability. We work together to identify and reduce risks with a relentless pursuit of excellence. And above all, we strive to ensure that every employee returns home safely each day.

Safety Performance

Novolex consistently maintains a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) below the industry average, as defined by Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines and Bureau of Labor Statistics data. In 2025, our TRIR was 1.31. Employees continue to create better and safer tasks and procedures, which are crucial for continuous improvement. We focused our efforts in 2025 on improving safety by applying safety strategies that meet and exceed industry standards.

At Novolex, championing safety means actively demonstrating our commitment through programs, recognition, and shared learning across every facility. The following initiatives reflect some of the ways our teams work together to reinforce a culture of safety.

Good Catch Program

The Good Catch Program, which is being expanded to our entire network, encourages employees on the production floor to report near misses, suggest areas for improvement, and recognize colleagues who demonstrate outstanding efforts in creating a safe work environment. The program rewards transparency and encourages everyone to identify hazardous conditions or insufficient procedures.
